I regret eating cake. I regret fighting with my mom, making unnecessary comments that broke her heart. I regret allowing something I will never be able to control to dictate my decisions in life. I REGRET NOT SUBMITTING MY AP ESSAY ON TIME, SO I HAVE TO RETAKE IT! Regretting is a given pain in our human existence. However, when it becomes a virus, we need to set ourselves free. It is a universal human pain that eats up one inside, slowly. So you will make the wrong moves, hurt people you love, miss out on important opportunities, and fail to stand up for yourself. Instead of letting it spiral inside, try to replace regret with motivation to improve yourself. This is a given. We all make mistakes. And regret is a natural reaction to this. It’s an alarm system, a warning sign designed to make us learn from our past, change something inside ourselves, and make better choices in the future. Regretting over something that happened in the past will only add an unnecessary layer to your feelings, which doesn’t move you forward. Let it go by self-reflecting. What can you do in the future that helps to not make the same mistake?
